Stay tuned to this blog post for updates.

Sources tell me a bill has been pre-filed this week that would remove cannabis from Schedule I. This bill would not create access to cannabis in any way, shape, or form (emphasis added).
A separate bill modeled after New Mexico’s program is in it’s draft phase. As I understand it, once complete, this draft will NOT be introduced into the Legislature. Instead, activists are going to take the draft to key Republicans and ask for their input. Once Republicans have a chance to make enough corrections to it so they can support it, then it will be introduced.
This is a huge improvement over past years, where we had a medical cannabis bill introduced with a caveat of “This has no shot of passing.”
I will update this blog post as more information comes through. Make sure you’re contacting your representatives and letting them know they care about this issue. If they don’t hear from you, they’ll assume you don’t care.

UPDATE 1-17-14:
Apparently, contrary to what Senator Bolkcom told me on the phone last Saturday, the bills are now NOT going to be introduced for a couple of weeks. I have no idea why.
I am completely in the dark as to what is going on at the Capitol at this point in time.
