After the Bleeding Heartland reported on two health giants blocking Iowa patients from the medical cannabis program, patients in Iowa have come together to demand action be taken to resolve the problem. A petition created today at Change.org is linked below. Please sign and share this petition — more patients have been turned away then accepted, because doctors are worried about federal law (Iowa’s program complies with federal law instead of violating it like other states) and more importantly, doctors are worried they haven’t been educated properly by the State. So here we go!
While 250 patients have already been approved, 300 more patients have had no luck in finding doctors for a full year. Doctors throughout Iowa are thoroughly ignorant of endocannabinoid activities, Iowa’s new medical program, and drug interactions between classes of medication.

Other Universities nationwide already have continuing education courses for doctors to study the endocannabinoid system. For our medical professionals in Iowa to understand terpenes, cannabinoids, THC, and other important medical constituents we need the State to give education and guidance. Until this happens patients will continue to be told that doctors won’t sign recommendations, and this disservice to both doctors and patients needs rectified sooner rather than later. Please support our work to bring education to Iowa doctors on the latest endocannabinoid science by signing our petition. We respectfully and gratefully request this be completed by end of August, before December 1st, when products are to be made available as the Board of Pharmacy recommended eight years ago.
