Yesterday was the midterm elections, and 20 new governors were elected in the United States, including seven Democrats who wrestled control of the governor’s mansion away from Republicans. Considering most marijuana legalization laws occur at the state level, it’s probably a good idea to see how the new governors feels about cannabis.

Alaska – Republican Mike Dunleavy
Says he has no plans to change Alaska’s legalized marijuana laws.
Nevada – Democrat Steve Sisolak
Supports legalizing recreational marijuana and creating clearer regulations in Nevada.
Colorado – Democrat Jared Polis
Supports recreational marijuana.
New Mexico – Democrat Michelle Lujan Grisham
Supports legalizing recreational marijuana.
Minnesota – Democrat Tim Walz
Supports legalizing recreational marijuana.
Wisconsin – Democrat Tony Evers
Supports legalizing medical marijuana and believes Wisconsin should hold a statewide vote to determine what to do about recreational marijuana.
Illinois – Democrat J.B. Pritzker
Supports legalizing recreational marijuana
Michigan – Democrat Gretchen Whitmer
Supports legalizing recreational marijuana
Connecticut – Democrat Ned Lamont
Supports legalizing recreational marijuana.
Maine – Democrat Janet Mills
Supports legalizing recreational marijuana and allowing the state to begin recreational sales.
