Iowa’s medical cannabidiol becomes available for legal federal sale in two weeks.
“You need to call the Iowa department of health in Des Moines. They were really helpful and answered my questions. I see a couple of different doctors at two different corporations. I asked if my doctors at unity point or Wheaton Franciscan would be having informational classes and training for their doctors. She said unity point was having training the week I called and Wheaton Franciscan was not opting in for training classes. I then called my doctors office within unity point and asked if he was participating with the cannabis program and they told me yes. I have an appt on december 3rd.”

Laura Belin of Bleeding Heartland reported back in February 2018 that patients throughout Iowa were complaining that doctors were refusing to sign federally legal paperwork that merely certified conditions — not legally recommending medical cannabis per se, only that the condition exists — which may have resulted in administrators at hospitals opening education up to doctors throughout Iowa. Either way, this seems to be good news from Unity Point hospital. It will be but a matter of time before other doctors discover the endocannabinoid system.
