Numbers update: Talked with Mr Mayer at IDPD today and I asked him how applications have been approved since there are conflicting numbers being reported. Right now there are 663 active applicants (people with actual cards) with 350 waiting..meaning applications have been approved by IDPH and information has been sent to the Iowa DOT, but those people have not yet gone to Iowa DOT to get their actual cards. I mention to Mr Mayer that channel 5 in DesMoines posted a figure of 1829 cards have been issued, he stated, that may be the total number of cards which may have been issued since 2014 with many cards no longer being active for they are only valid for 1 year. (so there seems to be what I would say a play on words to increase #’s) it all depends on how the actual question is asked stated Mr Mayer. I also asked him once people send in their application to IDPH, how long does it take before an individual is able to go to Iowa DOT and get their actual card, Meaning: 2-3 days once IDPH receives and approves the application, one is able to go to Iowa DOT and get their card. (pretty quick) Any one can go to idph.iowa.gov/cbd to find information about the program. Hope this is helpful.
