The expanded list of practitioners will especially help rural Iowans.A number of representatives from both parties worked on this bill. Rep. Jarad Klein, R-Keota, floor managed it. Rep. Wes Breckenridge, D-Newton, and Rep. Bob Kressig, D-Cedar Falls, worked on the measure. House leadership was supportive.This is not a perfect bill but it is a good step forward. Legislators of both parties engaged in good faith negotiating and arrived at a compromise.The Senate bill contains many of the same provisions as the House bill. Senator Zaun has expressed general support for the House version. The Senate may tweak it with additional conditions and an additional number of dispensaries. Another legislative deadline looms. Policy bills must pass committees in both the House and Senate to move forward by April 5.
