Can Iowa Farmers Can Grow Hemp Immediately? New Iowa Hemp Industries Association Facebook Page Created May 13 2019 Appears To Say Yes

According to the following post, this article from the USDA says Iowa farmers can grow hemp immediately. Pretty sure that’s not true, but I could be wrong.

You can read about Iowa’s recent legislation relegalizing hemp here.

Update: Misunderstood the post, they were right and I was wrong: Iowa Hemp Industries Association was saying that Iowa could potentially allow immediate growth. I don’t understand why this idea was put out there considering the legislators said on Iowa Public Radio that we were going to wait until 2020 to grow so farmers could get a heads up and not get burned on a bad investment they were underprepared for. Updating article now. So, IHIA was right. That was an interesting proposition but the timing of it was after the idea was settled, so I was confused. Didn’t know that was possible, but even if it was done, I am 100% positive most farmers would still wait until next growing season at the least to grow so they don’t waste money. It’s happened in some spots around the country. Please see Minnesota and California for examples of why hemp would not have been grown. I think being eager is good, and wasn’t trying to be critical here, I just like talking out everything as much as possible until understandings about what’s going on is reached. Thus, this blog.
