Note: It’s well known that my views on CBD are that it’s a joke of a medicine that is only being temporarily seized upon by opportunists — and, that it’s a good thing in the end for marijuana even if a bad thing for now — and it’s also well known that I’ve been fairly outspoken on Iowa laws, safety concerns for consumers using CBD products, and the whole enchilada.
I just got permission to post what may well end up being a lawsuit/scandal from what appears to be a fake group fronting as WatchDogs to take out competition in the industry. I’m still downloading and digesting this information and think this is largely a disgruntled company worker or owner mad at the survey results, BUT the press releases do indeed read like hit pieces and are not at all objective. From the Center For Food Safety comes this latest side piece:
Jason’s (an apparent victim of this flawed survey) post says:
A couple of months ago, a company that I feel is impersonating the FDA Food Safety Division, released a food score card that graded hemp CBD companies. This is their website:
https://www.centerforfoodsafety.org/
The company (who is not a government agency) created a survey that is not verified and also contains no inspection or third party verifications. The company filling out the survey can write whatever they want. Center for Food Safety. org also told me that they could provide the service of helping us get a better score on the next card. Of course, there is a fee associated with that based on their website and business model. To me it feels a little like extortion.
This is the FDA website for Food Safety:
Very clever and deceiving in my opinion.
As you can see, the card is very misleading and implies that companies have poor quality when in reality they might have just not wanted to fill out the survey like us. We are GMP and USDA Organic Certified. We are an elite rare breed in the industry and we got an F on the survey for NOT filling out the survey.
I immediately looked at who got an A on the survey and was shocked to see a couple of the companies listed. I immediately started researching and came to the conclusion that the owner of one of the companies isn’t smart enough to pull this off but in the research I saw where her company was just bought by a bigger company and the owner of that company has a history of doing shady sh*t. I painfully realized this was a hit piece and my blood started to boil.
I thought about getting lawyers involved and all of that but I came up with a better idea. I’ve been on the news hundreds of times because of my pioneering work in the CBD industry dating back to 2010. I started explaining this situation to a couple of reporters I know and they showed interest.
Who is John W. Roulac? Who is RE Botanical? Who is Center for Food Safety? If you know anything about these companies or this guy please comment. I am building a story that I will hand off to a national news outlet. If your company and trademark appeared on this score card, please comment. This is a trademark violation as well according to my legal team.
Please share this!
It looks like a CBD company that got a failing grade isn’t happy about the Center for Food Safety’s grading process. It does seem unfair. Wondering if this will become a news story on some more mainstream sites because that does seem like a hit. Either way, it sounds like companies refusing to take the stupid survey in the first place failed for not taking the survey, so I’m not sure if this thing is accurate. It sure is interesting, though.
