Why isn’t anybody working on regulating widely used illegal CBD to protect Iowa families and consumers?
WeedPress has covered the CBD issue extensively since fall 2017, starting after a raid on a Muscatine CBD store lead to…nothing, legislatively or in the courts. Here’s one of the results of the widely used illegal and unregulated CBD stores strategy of setting Iowa families up for potential prosecution, from an Iowa family sent in anonymously to us today.

“In regards to CBD kids etc. I call BS
I don’t want my name out there. My wife and I believe were the first in IA charged with child abuse in regards to CBD, around 2017 I believe?
Long story short, we were turned in, it was from hemp and was less .03%. Found guilty through CPS, placed on IA abuse registry list etc etc…
Anyway, hire attorney, reach out to state lawmakers, state of IA agreed to drop all charges IF we enrolled him in the state program. This was going on right as they changed the IA law a few years ago. The first year was very epileptic specific. The next year relaxed it a bit from that very rare seizures to general seizures.
We went from hemp CBD, to “real” CBD from cannabis by the request of Iowa. Yes, you read that right. I doubt they are going to drug test kids.
By going from hemp CBD to Cannabis we saw an even bigger increase. He was able to go outside and not cover his ears and cry. Can look people in the eye, no more epic melt downs, haircuts are not an issue. Yesterday he was able to start his first general education class. He is in 8th grade, autistic, epileptic and ADHD. CBD/THC has given my son something, it temporally stops the “quirky” things most people associate with autism”

So while a happy ending worked out after the family was already on an abuse registry, others are still at risk until this issue is cleared up.
