Here’s a note dropped in a patient group recently that should be read by orgs and supporters working on the issue.
For more on the issue read:
Soldiers are not the only ones who suffer from PTSD, I need to make that clear. Domestic violence survivors have PTSD especially when they were mentally abused. This needs to be discussed in depth as well as the fact that DHS needs to stop stealing kids from parents who use marijuana, I am saddened to see that no one talks about it and I am extremely disappointed that the stigma is still working in groups that want marijuana reform. I’m a domestic violence survivor, I am also a mother of stolen children because I use marijuana, I never hurt my children and I never used during pregnancy except 1 time and there were circumstance issues that are private in that situation. However its completely illogical to suggest that marijuana use is detrimental to raising children, its also illogical to think that people who use are addicts. We are not, we don’t use to get “Stoned” we use to function and to be able to do things that some of our disabilities might prevent, my disabilities are mostly in my brain, I was forced on rittalin because no one cared to listen to me and labeled me a problem child with adhd, however I was being abused by my mother and fought over by not just my parents but my greedy grandmother as well. I have deep seeded pain that I use marijuana to combat and overcome. It allows me to shop during normal society hours, it keeps me from having a stroke again, I had a stroke at 33! It helps me deal with the memories of being abused by someone who I thought loved me, it helps me to not commit suicide after having my children stolen from us by the state. I just wish that the pages I followed were less stigmatized against certain issues like DHS and domestic violence PTSD or forced rittalin Guinea pigs. These are the issues I know for a fact should be at the forefront of the battle because I know I’m not the only one who has suffered in iowa due to archaic laws and an unrestrained department of human services. I totally understand vets have PTSD don’t misunderstand me on this, it’s just that there’s more people who have ptsd from other forms of violence.
I pray that you will find the strength to stand up and shout with me, I know I’m not alone, gain strength from my pain and know this has been hard on me but its also liberating to release my pain on here. Please don’t stay in the shadows and share your thoughts with me, if not on my post then in my messenger, just lmk you sent a PM.
