Developing: Senator Miller-Meeks, Others, Discuss Medical Cannabis At Yesterday’s Ottumwa League of Women Voter’s Forum

Ottumwa, Iowa

Senator Miller-Meeks and other state actors discussed concerns about lack of federal influence on fixing outdated marijuana laws at a League of Women Voter’s forum in Ottumwa Saturday morning.

See below for video from an Iowa patient discussing concerns with limitations being placed on Iowa’s medical cannabis program as well as a major concern that Iowa’s politicians are not legislating with any respect for patient feedback, needs, and pain.

Video provided by Iowa activist John Fenner. John does have an Iowa medical cannabis card, but says he refuses to use the program’s expensive and limited products. Watch below for a great discussion, especially from Senator Miller-Meeks, who brings up an easily addressed concern asking “Why hasn’t the federal government legalized marijuana?” That’s a paraphrase, not a direct quote.

John has also talked about cannabis this session with Governor Kim Reynolds, which is likely worthy of another article in and of itself. Here’s some pictures of John wearing MedPharm Iowa’s I Support Medical Cannabis T-Shirt while posing for pictures with the Lieutenant Governor as well as a picture of him talking with Kim Reynolds.

Apparently there was more video as well but Senator Miller-Meeks lied and claimed it’s illegal to record public discussions in Iowa, which is an outright lie. It is fully legal to record with the consent of one party. For example, you can record without the other party’s knowledge that they are being recorded and submit the conversation into the record in a court case.
