This just in today. Zero notice was given by Have A Heart — and I can’t really blame them.
Kim Reynolds has thrown patients off a cliff. Seeing this inevitability, it appears this company decided to cut it’s losses and quit without any notice to stop any further financial loss.
Iowa patients, already lacking easy access due to the limits on “allowable” dispensaries, now have even less access to a program that does not have a chance to become financially solvent anytime in the near decade without drastic legislative improvements, of which there appears to be zero motivation during Kim Reynolds tenure through 2022.
Tyrants abound in Iowa, and this one is a win for the tyrants. Meanwhile, those who are truly vulnerable, are not represented anywhere.
Stay tuned for more on this development to this nightmare. Maybe when Kim Reynolds retires or gets some appointment for being a shill in 2022 we’ll see us getting some real action on marijuana at the legislature but until then, don’t be surprised if all the damn dispensaries doors are shuttered.
Below is the official notice from the IDPH concerning today’s not that surprising news:
This message is a notification of the immediate closure of the Have a Heart Compassionate Care dispensaries located at 3615 9th Avenue, Council Bluffs, IA 51501 and 2222 E. 53rd Street, Davenport, IA 52807, as of March 30, 2020.
The department was only made aware today of Have A Heart’s decision to permanently close these dispensaries.
Patients and caregivers will still be able to purchase medical cannabidiol products at Iowa’s three other licensed dispensaries, located at:
MedPharm Iowa – 5700 Sunnybrook Drive, Sioux City, IA 51106
Iowa Cannabis Company – 1955 La Porte Road, Waterloo, IA 50702
MedPharm Iowa – 7239 Apple Valley Drive, Windsor Heights, IA 50324Providing patient access to medical cannabidiol products is important to the Department, and we understand the difficulties that these closures may cause for patients and caregivers in the Council Bluffs and Davenport areas. The Department is committed to providing patient access, and will work to license two new dispensaries as soon as possible.
Please let us know if you have any questions about these closures. The Office of Medical Cannabidiol can be reached by phone at (515)-725-2076, or by email at medical.cannabidiol@idph.iowa.gov.
Sincerely,
Owen Parker, MPH

One Iowa patient wrote in response to the above email that was sent to subscribers in Iowa earlier today:
Unfortunately, this means I will have to pay a higher price for my medication in a form that I know works as Have a Heart was roughly $30 cheaper than Iowa Cannabis Company while the two other dispensaries are far too much of a drive for me to try them.
Thanks, Governor Reynolds!
