Iowa mCBD Cardholder Calls For Legal Mail Program For Cannabis Patients BURNED By Dispensary Closures

I’ll save the complaining about the Republican party’s sole culpability in tanking the medical cannabis industry in Iowa with their onerous regulations and skip directly to this Iowa cannabis card holding patient’s request that rural and truly vulnerable Iowans left hours from a dispensary be left alone to get their product by mail service instead:

cannabis delivery

As a patient of the Iowa cannabidiol program here is my experience so far.

I bet there are member here who may be on the fence and wondering if it’s all worth it. I will say the biggest hurdle is getting your Dr. To sign off on the paperwork. Contrary to what medical institutions say when they have a reporter in front of them most are a hard no policy.

There are doctors outside of the normal networks that will. ***** *** can put you in contact with one of those doctors.

Once you have a doctors endorsement you go to the medpharm website and follow the instructions to submit all of the nessessary paperwork to the state.

Once you have card in hand (3 weeks for me) you will setup a consultation with a medpharm rep. You will be asked what conditions you are being treated for and any medications you currently take via a intake form that is also downloadable from medpharm. Nice folks over here in Windsor heights may I add.

For me I am a service connected disabled vet. Pain from an injury is #1 and also as a combat vet I take medication to keep my past at bay. Medpharm is very serious about your treatment and will work with you to achieve the results you need. Granted as some state the law does not allow treatment for more severe conditions that require more powerful medications but they have rules to work within.

Medpharm will make recommendations and you will decide what works for you. First day I received my first batch of medicine I took a comfort 5mg and for the first night in years i slept all night. No pain no nightmares and when I woke up I felt I could roll over and do another 2 hours. Now as my body adjusts I am sure the dosage will need adjusted too. For me what was most exciting was I would be able to stop taking 2 meds right away that have way too many side effects.

Good days I take the calm cap and brightens up the day. Bad days I take the harmony 5mg and it does the job without clouding my ability to work. Long story short I am very happy that I took the time to investigate and reach out to the right people to help in this journey.

If I could change anything or make a suggestion. For medpharm it would be now that there is coming legislation to remove the cap and now go with a gram system. Figure out how to make a “Natural” line of product that does not require all the chemicals and machines to produce. Get a good strain and reduce it to capsules somehow. (Challenge your staff) there many of us who are apprehensive about medicine to begin with and nature made would be a ++.

For our legislative branch I would suggest (and have in a letter) with the 2 dispensaries closing figure out how to do (legal) mail order ASAP. No doubt Iowa will baby step the Iowa cannabidiol program for years to come it’s just the way it works. In closing it’s nice to come here are read about others experiences and hope everyone finds relief.

My two cents here: federal law may create issues with using USPS or UPS, so, Iowa should take up this idea, by implementing a volunteer system for delivery. Minnesota just did this, where I signed up to be a possible volunteer. Basically, the law in Minnesota is allowing people to register as emergency caregivers due to lack of access to the dispensaries during the COVID fakedemic. So, in Iowa, if legislators removed their overburdensome regulations, they could allow Iowans to volunteer to deliver cannabis products to those unable to travel. Win, win, win.
