What Happened With Former First Lady Laura Bush’s “Secret Marijuana Religion?”

Oprah, Jay Leno, and even the Today show…Laura Bush has repeatedly stated, and been backed up on a claim by her family…that Laura Bush’s religion uses marijuana as a key part of it’s religious practice.

Does Laura Bush use marijuana as part of her religious practice? It would make sense given her reputation during college. This claim that Laura listens to Bob Marley and follows a marijuana religion is somewhat curious to me, since I recall when I was a kid that George Bush was presented to the public as a Christian. If Laura Bush is Rasta, why was it not revealed while George was President that his wife was a brand of Christianity that uses marijuana as a sacrament to connect with God?

What a weird world.

This religion, Rastafari, was popularized by Bob Marley, whose songs almost always involve references to Biblical scripture.

So, why did Laura Bush wait to be “outed” that marijuana was part of her religion until years after her husband left office?

If your religion is “secret,” why would it be kept secret for so long…and did it help you and your husband become President, this “secret” religion of marijuana using Rastafarians you claim adherence to?

Honest people may expect to deserve an honest answer to this question some day. I’d expect a disavowal from the Bush’s, or a refusal to acknowledge why marijuana plays a key role in Laura Bush’s “secret Rasta” religion if this claim is true and not some joke about reggae music that I’m missing, but… normal Rastas who tell the truth point out that the mind-altering psychedelic component of marijuana is what leads many Rastas to understand and experience Rasta — an experience that requires inhaling, not reading about on a marijuana blog.

I mean, it’s one of the main things associated with Rastafari. Marijuana, man! So, that would explain why you’d keep your religious beliefs a secret. If Laura Bush illegally used weed — and she did, she had a reputation about weed when she was in college — then that explains that she would keep her real religious beliefs a secret while her husband was, you know, the most powerful man in the world.

So if in 2009 on Jay Leno AND in 2010 on Oprah Laura Bush said she was a Rasta? That may have been a joke, everyone reasoned, so nobody pursued it. But in 2017 she again on the Today Show was said to be a Rasta by her daughter. So, what’s up with that?
