Insider sources at a Republican county convention in Iowa that took place March 12th tell WeedPress in an exclusive interview that a vote to support medical marijuana took place. The vote passed unanimously by Iowa Republicans.
Three leaders in the Iowa Republican party told stories of using cannabis for end-of-life treatment for family members, and one story of a young patient whose family rubs cannabis oil extracts on her feet to treat epilepsy.
Sources say the vote, which was over adding an amendment to the Iowa Republican Party platform, was completely unanimous. Discussion that took place included debate over whether marijuana was an exit or gateway drug. The resolution will be presented at the Third District convention on April 23rd in Polk County and will also likely be presented at the Republican state convention on June 11th.

The last time Republicans voted to add medical marijuana to the party platform was in 2014, and that public vote caught the attention of lawmakers and helped spur the first passage of medical marijuana laws in 2014.
