Yesterday’s Polk County GOP Convention had a reporter from the Iowa Republican there live blogging the event. Apparently, illegally consuming alcohol on school grounds is socially acceptable, but allowing medical cannabis for those who truly need it is not.

From The Iowa Republican:
” 9:08 Good thing my flask is easily hidden.
9:42 (drink).
10:13 Whitaker mentions Reagan. Second to praise Ronnie. Drink.
1:07 Schaben says get rid of Obamacare. Drink.
1:11 Obamacare. Drink.
2:57 And the flask is empty.
5:02 A “we support medical marijuana” plank failed.

Video of the medical cannabis discussion is below. Only 60 seconds was allowed each speaker to discuss amendments, and speakers were limited to three “for” and three “against.”
Each speaker was woefully uninformed — one claimed that the Iowa Epilepsy Foundation was against medical cannabis, yet this is clearly not the full story.
Republicans clearly have some weeds to pull within their party this election season. Consuming alcoholic beverages on school grounds may be socially acceptable within the Republican Party — even if it’s just in jest — but throughout the rest of the country, medical cannabis has become the litmus test for having common sense. For the benefit of those who didn’t pass, I’ll have a full response to each speaker later this week — so follow WeedPress on Facebook for that little smack down.
Thanks for reading (and sharing.)
