WeedPress reports on cannabis law and policy from the record. This page explains how a story is checked before it is published, how people named in it can respond, and what happens when WeedPress gets something wrong.

Primary sources first
Every factual claim in a WeedPress story is tied to a primary source: a court filing, an agency record, a statute or rule, or a DEA document. Legal claims carry Bluebook-style footnotes in a Notes section at the end of the story, so readers can check the source themselves. Where a source is public, the note links to it.
Tips are not facts
Tips and rumors are where reporting starts, not where it ends. WeedPress does not publish a tip or rumor as fact until it is confirmed. When a story mentions something that has not been confirmed, it is labeled as unconfirmed.
Right of reply
People and businesses named critically in a story get a fair chance to respond, with specific questions and a deadline. That contact happens before publication or, when it can’t, after. Their answers are added to the story. Anyone named in a WeedPress story can send a response at any time to weedpressnewstips@gmail.com. Details are on the Corrections & Right of Reply page.
Privacy and sources
Private people are named only with their permission. WeedPress redacts personal details, including home addresses, phone numbers and license or registration numbers, and does not publish the names of minors.
Confidential sources are protected. Documents shared with WeedPress in confidence are not republished.
Records in public
WeedPress logs its records requests and its questions to agencies publicly on the Agency Accountability Tracker, so readers can see what was asked and whether it has been answered. Records are posted in the Records Library.
Editing and fact-checking
Every story is edited and fact-checked before it is published.
Corrections
When WeedPress gets something wrong, the error is fixed and the correction is noted on the story. To report an error, email weedpressnewstips@gmail.com with “Correction” in the subject line, or see the Corrections & Right of Reply page.
