MedPharm Iowa response to recent events:
With the recent events regarding CBD in Iowa, we felt it important to join in on the conversation. For official record:
MedPharm Iowa had NO involvement with businesses across the state being directed to stop selling illegal CBD products.
This weekend our patients and our staff endured the unfair and misguided wrath of social media, as well as harassment towards our staff at our dispensaries.
Many people don’t realize that MedPharm Iowa is a small Iowa business, with fewer than 20 employees between Des Moines and Sioux City, but we have high hopes for our medical cannabis endeavor. We fight EVERY DAY to improve this program for suffering Iowans. We aren’t giving up that fight, despite the fact that the legislature still hasn’t passed a bill to improve the program.
We spoke with store owners this week, including the owner of Campbell’s Nutrition, and they offered their apologies for taking part in the spread of misinformation.
We are disappointed in how events unfolded over the weekend, but it has helped address the fact that we all need to work together for better access to cannabis products in Iowa. We agreed that we are stronger working together, and MedPharm Iowa looks forward to working with other small Iowa businesses to improve access for all patients.
While plenty of issues remain with Iowa’s medical cannabis program and Iowa’s hemp/CBD program, or lack thereof, inflammatory and misinformed discussions only undermine the future progress in this state, for all Iowans. Due to the complicated nature of this topic, the biggest problem we face is misinformation. One thing we know for certain, we all share a common goal of helping people and progressing the medical use of cannabis.
We encourage our audience to truly make an impact by taking your action and energy and direct your complaints and feedback appropriately – TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES in the Legislature. Do so constructively and respectfully to increase our chance of improving the quality of life for Iowans.
Together we can push Iowa forward. And we can only get there together.
